Dear Valued Supplier,
 
TRADE SANCTIONS
 
As a global organisation, our businesses in various countries must comply and adhere to very specific regulatory requirements and sanctions related to the country of origin. As a South African registered company, Sasol is subject to the requirements of the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act of 2004. This requires compliance with the UN sanctions lists. In addition, Sasol must also comply with the sanction lists for the United States, European Union and United Kingdom sanctions.
 
Following recent global events and the impact of the increase in sanctions imposed on Russia by inter alia the United States, European Union and the United Kingdom, as a Sasol Supplier (hereinafter referred to as “the Supplier”) you are herewith  requested to confirm that insofar as the Supply of Goods and Services to Sasol is concerned that: 
  1. “The Supplier” will continue to ensure compliance with any sanctions that have been imposed by the United States, European Union and/ or the United Kingdom; 
  1. “The Supplier “ has conducted a due diligence and sanctions screening process on all its sub-suppliers and/or subcontractors as well as any other entity involved in the supply of works to Sasol; and that such sub-suppliers / sub-contractors or others, are not subject to sanction restrictions as imposed by the United States, European Union and/ or the United Kingdom; 
  1. “The Supplier” will continue to adhere to the undertakings included in the SANCTION CLAUSE of the Supply Contract, as entered into between the Parties, if applicable.
 
The severity of sanctions aimed at countries, persons or entities do vary substantially.  The Supplier shall therefore comply with all (and not contravene any) export control and sanction laws and regulations issued by the mentioned sanctions’ authorities. The Supplier should refrain from or terminate, any transactions in terms of the export, distribution, sale, transfer and/or re-export and end use of certain goods and services from certain countries, specifically Russia, and/or certain persons or entities as referred to in the aforesaid sanction laws and regulations when doing business with Sasol.
 
The Supplier is requested to engage with Sasol and declare if any transactions are linked to sanctioned entities, countries or persons, in specific Russia-related transactions.
