The worldwide Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, along with the lower oil-price, is having unprecedented global impact across all industries. Sasol is not immune to these impacts and we are taking all the necessary steps in our control, to ensure stakeholder safety and organisational sustainability. The receiving of purchased materials and goods is one area identified with the potential for financial as well as health-related risk. 
 
The Coronavirus pandemic necessitates procedures and practices for the safe receiving of materials and goods. To minimise the associated risk, we have implemented strict hygiene protocols with regards to delivery and receipt of goods. We have also taken measures to reduce the operating costs associated with unplanned receiving of goods. To this end, it is requested that suppliers seize all unplanned deliveries and adhere to delivery dates agreed to, as per the purchase order, for the delivery of materials and goods.
 
Deviations from requested delivery dates result in an inability to plan for safe receiving of materials and goods. Suppliers are therefore requested to adhere to delivery dates agreed on the purchase order going forward and to assist us in ensuring that the delivery dates are accurate.
 
Please take note that:  
  • The delivery date stipulated on the purchase order should be considered the official delivery date;
  • If a delivery cannot be made on the stipulated date, either as a result of inaccurate lead times on the PO or any other reason, please request a change via the Ariba Network. Suppliers not yet transacting on the Ariba Network, can do so through the relevant Sasol contact person;
  • Changes to delivery dates are only valid if an updated PO (change order) is received.  
It is essential to take note that the directive will also be applicable after the lockdown has been suspended.
 
Non-adherence to these requirements could result in deliveries being refused. Please also note that in future, payment dates will be calculated using the requested date of delivery not the actual date of delivery (i.e. early deliveries).
 
Your cooperation in complying with this directive is highly appreciated. It will contribute to a healthy and sustainable working environment for both us at Sasol and you as a valued partner.
